Some of my favourite things right now

I'm deep in line edits, my brain is mush and even the giant coffee I drank this morning isn't doing anything to wake me up. To top it off, my kids recently saw Sound Of Music for the 100th time and have been singing 'my favourite things' all the time.

So it's top of mind. So here it a list of my favourite things right now, only some of them writing related.

1) Cole haan shoes - Love them, some of their high heeled shoes have made me gasp when I've tried them on, because they don't feel like your toes are being squished into a little vee. Not all are amazing, but the ones that work will be the only heels you'll ever wear again...

2) Anna dressed in blood - by Kendare Blake - an amazing YA ghost story that is scary and tense and quick paced and with a great guy protagonist who is smart and wry and funny. I'm half way through and loving it.

3) P90X and Insanity - OK, this is more a love hate thing. I don't know if you've seen the cheesy informercials, but I have both of these. They are tough, tough, and I'm reasonably fit, and these regularly kick my butt, but as work out at home DVD's go, it saves me a ton of time getting to and from a gym and no other workout has ever felt as challenging as these. But the warnings should be considered, they are really tough and need to be approached with caution, as it would be easy to get injured if you haven't worked out before.

4) Yoga jeans - as comfortable as they sound and really flattering. I live in my pair.

5) Any book by Sherry Thomas - her latest just got released and it's part of my reward for finishing edits.

6) Sangria - Because it's patio season and nothing is more refreshing on a hot summer day.

That's it for me. Anyone have any other favourite things to add?

Yoga jeans? There's such a thing as yoga jeans? Like yoga pants, but jeans? Is that what you're telling me?

If so, TELL ME WHERE TO BUY THEM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and i love Sangria, too. I prefer it to Margaritas which get me way too drunk way too fast. Plus, there's all that fruit. It makes it practically weight watchers friendly!

Eileen, I got them at a small clothing chain that is now out of business, but am actively hunting them down. Am wearing my yoga jeans right now and they are so comfy.. the waistband alone will make you weep with joy...

Great list. Love it!
And now I want Sangria.
As you know, I share your love of a great shoe. One thing my mom (who's not exactly a shopper/spender) instilled into me as a child was that cheap shoes are a false economy. Used to make me crazy, because she would never buy me the shoes I wanted. And having fallen into the trap of the $29.99 shoe many times in my late teens and early twenties, only to end up blistered and bleeding, and with cracked or scuffed-beyond-repair shoes to show for my pain... I believe in the good shoe. My drug of choice is Fluevog. I'm still wearing pairs I bought a decade ago, and they are still in great shape. (One pair, part of the heel came off, and when I took them back into the store, about 6 years after buying them, 3 years since I'd worn them, and without a receipt, they immediately said it had been a defect in that shoe and fixed them free of charge. It was like getting new shoes. :)

Love lists!

1. Sarah Mayberry books - I'm gorging on her backlist.

2. Eddie's 1/2 fat slow churn ice cream... almost as good as the real thing.

3. Season Finale of Game of Thrones - I've already watched it twice. I need to get me some baby dragons.

I also must know of these yoga jeans. Is it because of the waistband? The fabric? I googled and they all just looked like hiphuggers.

Hey MJ, it's all of the above, most denim is 98% cotton/2% spandex, even the high end ones, these have a much higher percentage of polyester, with a lot more stretch, so while the fit is skinny, the feel is now.

The waistband, like the rest of the jean, stretches really well and is cut high enough that it doesn't create too much of a muffintop, or cut off circulation to your legs and the wash is really dark, so they do well as a dressy jean...

I should become a spokesperson, but it's 11:30 at night and I've been wearing mine all day and I'm still wearing them....

ooops, meant the feel is NOT skinny, not now...

I started texting Maureen last night when I finally found sangria at the Mexican place where we were eating (why was it not with the other alcoholic beverages? I don't know). I told her to come on down and meet us on Main Street in Woodland. She got a little confused . . . Or maybe she wasn't confused and just thought I was. :-)

LOL. After you told me where you were, and said I should come down, I started to wonder if you'd texted me by mistake. :)
But was thrilled to be part of your night-o-sangria. :)

Yes, you too can split a Corona Light with my mother at El Charro then follow it up with a sangria. Couldn't resist texting someone after the sangria discussion and yours was the only drunk writer cell phone i had in my contacts. Steph? Molly? Sinead? Want to cough up the digits so you too can receive drunken texts from another time zone?

I had amazing sangria this weekend - white wine with pink grapefruit juice, citrusy bits. Can we declare this summer the summer of Sangria? Did we do that last summer?

I like Steph's list too - Sarah's self-published book Her BEst Worst Mistake - awesome. Game of Thrones, awesome.

I am adding - The season opener of True Blood - all very unexpected and
Girls - I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!
