Release Day Party! Free book! Twenty Authors!

Yesterday was the official release day for the anthology my short story, "Lost and Found" is in, THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF TIME TRAVEL ROMANCE.

I'm a little in love with this cover--okay, the model on the cover--even if they did spell my name "Many More". (My apologies to the great Michelle Rowen, aka Michelle Maddox, who's also in this anthology, for stealing that joke. At least she got her name as part of the back cover blurb. ;-)

Covers are something we authors have zero to little input on, (in this case zero), so it's nice when it turns out to be not-so-hideous. :-) While it's what's between the covers that pleases readers and builds word of mouth, the cover is probably the next single biggest thing that can impact sales, and so I bow down to the cover artist who picked this hot guy.

But back to the party. While this isn't a novel, it is the first time any fiction of mine has been in print, (unless you count a few stories and poems in school yearbooks, or that 5000 word excerpt that was up on Amazon for the better part of a year in a contest), and I must say, it's a nice feeling. Especially since I recently did get contracts for what will be my first two novels in print. Read about that, here. As an update to that post, my publisher (I have a publisher...squee) has a new website. Turns out my books will be part of the launch of a new imprint, Pickwick Press.

Neither of these "first deals" came about in a normal first deal kind of way, and I will blog about that at some point, but for now, let's just party! Someone pass the bubbly.

I'd love to give away a copy of the anthology to a commenter. If you comment by Friday at midnight, I'll choose a random winner on Saturday. If you want to hedge your bet, you can order the book from Amazon, or Indigo or anywhere books are sold. It makes a nice gift. Just saying...

If you could travel through time, when would you go?

You're right. The cover is slick! Congratulations with this release and your next two books!

Maureen, this is so exciting! You've worked really hard for this so enjoy that bubbly and dance around like a crazy woman!

Time travel: I'm hooked on the idea of being in Buenos Aires in the early 1900's when Tango was being invented and BA was a very dodgy, colourful and interesting place.

HURRAY!!!!! Great cover and your story is going to be loved by everyone.

I want to go with Alli to Buenos Aires.

Oddly enough - and this is so strange - California Gold Rush is where I would go.

It's a very, very hot...cover:)

Congrats again Maureen! You're one of the hardest working writers I know!

Love the cover. I went looking for it yesterday and it's not stocked yet but I'm on the lookout. Would love to win one.

When would I go? The future about 200 years into the future with my fingers crossed.

Congratulations, Maureen! Many happy returns of the day!! :-)

It's funny. This conversation came up recently. My sweetie had a whole list of places he'd like to time travel to. Mainly various artists he would have liked to see in concert. I couldn't come up with anything.

Thanks, everyone! My local bookstore's computer says it has 4 in stock, but they weren't on the shelves last night, yet. I will hound soon.

Molly, laughing about the gold rush and remembering that train ride we did in the Sierras a few summers back. Wow. A lot of summer's back. Before Mick was born.

Maureen, I love your story and everyone who reads this book will too.
As for time travel, I'd love to visit late Victorian London, just because that's the time period I write in, but also Paris in the early 1950's.

Woo hoo! Congratulations. I'm so excited for you (and Michelle, of course) :)

Maureen, congratulations! I love the cover. It's so great that you got a good one!

I would go back in time to somewhere in rural Canada just after the first World War. In many ways, life was easier then. Or that's the illusion I cling to. ;-)

Mary
PS. In case Michelle drops by, congratulations to you, too!

I am such a weenie. You guys say Gold Rush California and late Victorian London and all I hear is no indoor plumbing, no electricity and lots of uncomfortable shoes.

Could it be that I'm not a romantic at heart?

Congrats on the release! I love time travel and am putting the book on my "wish list." :)

If I could time travel, I would go back to the "Old West" -- a time of pioneers, cowboys and indians. I've always been fascinated by the 19th Century.

I think I'm a weenie when it comes to time travel, too, Eileen. I wouldn't want to travel back in time without a guarantee I could return! What? No contact lenses? I could not live like that.

Congrats on the release(and your novel contract.) I love the cover too.

I think I'd like to go forward in time and hope someone had discovered space travel.

Wow, here's a real surprise. I didn't think it was possible to write that many TT romances. Congrats all!

Wow, that guy on the cover is yummy. :)

Congratulations on the contracts for the upcoming novels!

If I could time travel, I'd be torn between:

A) ancient Sumer, before Sargon's invasion

B) Eleusis, to participate in the mysteries (of course, I'd have to learn to speak Attic Greek first, but heck, if someone manages to invent a time machine, I'm willing!)
