OH! So guilty and delicious....

We must have stumbled on to guilty pleasures if Sinead is admitting those Johanna Lindsey books on her shelf. Is she even still alive? Or are there a "team" of Johanna Lindsey's pushing out those books. Have they hooked her brain up to a computer somewhere?

And in the dictionary under guilty pleasures isn't it just a picture of the first season Nip/Tuck DVD?

I only mock to deflect any attention to those books on the lowest shelf of my keep case. Yes. It's a case. But since Sinead can be a man about it -- so can I. Elizabeth Lowell - the older the better. Love them. Love the Alpha Male, the BIG MISUNDERSTANDING, those doormat virgin heroines and seriously the very un-pc sex scenes. I love the old series, the old historicals all of it. She lost me recently but I'm not parting with those old ones.

You know about Friday Night Lights but my real secret is So You Think You Can Dance. I PVR it all the time and end up watching each episode at least twice. I know it's a guilty pleasure because I turn it off when the husband walks in the door. But frankly, it's artful and interesting.

I hope you all have gotten your holiday shopping done. I have one stop left and then I am done. Not too shabby.

I like Johanna Lindsay, it's an easy pleasurable read. Though I will admit I am having a hard time reading romance since I started seriously devoting time to breaking into the industry. Has this happened to anyone else? I am seeing flaws in books where there was no flaw before.

Okay, I meet your Johanna Lindsey and raise you one Barbara Cartland (pick any of her 723 books, they're all very much the same).

My goal is to bring the ...'s back to writing. You wait and see. I'm going to make it happen. LOL

Barbara Cartland!!!! Ohh you got me...Kimber you lost me though you're going to bring the what back to writing? I am dumb.

Hey Amy -- you don't have to justify your quilty pleasures to us. We wallow in ours.

Johanna Lindsay lost me in 1991. Jude Deveraux picked up where she left off, then Elizabeth Lowell, then Queen Nora. But, like Amy, I'm struggling with romances lately for the same reasons -- I'm 'working' while reading. Studying what works and what doesn't. (I actually TOOK NOTES while reading Molly's latest!!)
So much for a relaxing read! I've turned to other genre's for pure escapism...

I tried one Johanna Lindsay back when I was trying to get educated in the romance genre... Hated it. The most cliched thing I've read I think... Twins. One is pretty but dumb, one is smart but wears glasses hence is plain. Of course all the hero has to do is take off her glasses and presto, she's beautiful, too!
I've never read Madame la Cartland or Elizabeth Lowell... (but you all know I'm not a big romance reader... So what am I doing on this blog???)

My guilty pleasures are many... Back in the summer I think my reality TV addiction was seriously outed. Hmmm... what else will I admit to (other than junk food)? I know. While I'm not a big reader of the romance genre, I do love it in the movies. And, although I broke this addiction back in the 90's, I used to have a serious soap opera problem... Would tape the CBS shows every day and watch every night. But they do go fast on tape... you can fast fwd through the characters you hate and stop for the good stuff (sex scenes or big fights). Thank god I got that monkey off my back. Gives me more time for reality TV.

I...don't...know...what...you're...saying...Molly.

LOL
I wonder how long her books really would have been without the ...'s stuck in.

What amazed me about Barbara Cartland is that she could write 723 books all with the same heroine (the tiny, blonde, wisp of a woman-child). Here we are pressed to give people different, different, different, yet she sold books with the same heroine, the same hero (though once in a while, the hero was, gasp, blonde) and the same basic storyline.

I found a new guilty pleasure ...
DEXTER! Thanks, Maureen, for tip on TMN on Demand. I watched episode 1 & 2 last night. Needless to say, I was dreaming about that charming psycho all night! What a great show!!
Love the angry black dude (sarg, is it), - the only one who finds Dex creepy.
It has a very similar feel to Nip/Tuck, does anyone else notice? I can't quite put my finger on it...

I never really read Johanna Lindsay, I did read Janet Dailey and Julie Garwood. I will admit that I've read three Madeline Bakers books and don't feel compelled to read another. They were all pretty much the same, half-breed heroes and petulant virgin heroines that I'd like to slap.

Sinead, I love the original Battlestar Galactica and have been quite late jumping on the bandwagon for the new series. I've caught it a few times and you're right, this Apollo is just as hot, if not hotter, than the first one. I have only seen a couple of episodes so I haven't figured things out yet. My guilty pleasure is General Hospital.

Last year my guilty pleasure was Invasion. ABC cancelled it. Bad bad ABC.

Hey! Wylie/Paula you are in for a treat -- that show just gets better and better and I LOVED LOVED LOVED the finale. A bold move in terms of television and no real cliffhanger but man -- love it.

LAst night I got real affirmation on a nother of my serious guilty pleasures...country music. I know I know I can't believe it either -- you'd have to understand where I am from -- anyway Husband and I went to go see Shut Up and Sing the documentary about the Dixie Chicks and the huge political scandal they were involved in over Bush and the Iraq war and did I ever love it. While the Chicks are no longer considered country by the true country folk for thier leftist natures -- it's still pretty country and it is a fantastic documentary. About integrity as artists and how some of the worst moments in a career create a series of new chances. Really inspiring stuff. I recommend it.

Molly, I wouldn't consider country music a guilty pleasure, not in the least. My daughter is named after Garth's eldest daughter, so I'm a fan from way back. Granted some of the newer new stuff is unfamiliar to me but there's far worse things you could listen to.

BTW, I just finished His Best Friend's Baby. I really enjoyed it. Is Caleb going to get his own book someday? Enquiring minds want to know.

In case Molly doesn't get to your comment... YES!!! Caleb's book is UNDERCOVER PROTECTOR (used to be Jigsaw Hearts) and is coming out next year. You're going to LOVE it.
