Sometimes I just want to be entertained

This is my post where I try and explain why I might consider going to see Battleship.

Sure, it looks awful, bad dialogue, stiff acting, plot ridiculousness, but things do go boom, and Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Scarsgard are really pretty and sadly, that's enough for me.

Apparently it's a pretty fun movie and those are my expectations going in. Make things go boom, have pretty people and I'm pretty sure it can live up to that. Now, it's great when a movie can go beyond, ie. Cabin in the Woods and The Avengers, but not everything has Josh Whedon attached to it (the poor man would be exhausted)

I'm also looking for some entertaining books. I just finished, on Molly's recommendation, Courtney Milan's The Governess Affair, which is awesome. And I'm holding buying Insurgent until I finish another edit on a book, but I also want something really, really fun to read. Something funny, and light, and sexy would nice. (I've already Molly's Can't buy my love, but if you haven't, it's coming out soon)

So any recommendations, I love a rich, emotional historical, or paranormal, but right now, give me a great, cute contemporary or chick lit to switch things up.

Or should I just re-read one of the Susan Elizabeth Phillips on my shelf?

Sinead - I'm with you two boyfriends rolled into one in this movie. I NEVER see movies like this and even I am considering going.

Also read the Governess Affair - LOVED IT. And for a great category type read - Sarah Mayberry's Her Best Worst Mistake. This is the definition I think of self publishing correctly.

It's not necessarily funny/light but oh so good.

I often go to the movies just to be entertained, although things blowing up doesn't usually do it.

However....

Taylor Kitsch and Alex Scarsgaard in one movie? That'll do it. In spite of the ridiculous premise--what was Peter Berg thinking?--I'm going.

I can't go this weekend so please report back on the following:

How many times were they bare chested or bare bottomed - very important.

Also did you hear Scarsgaard is a potentional for Christian in 50 Shades.

If he gets the part - despite my dislike of this book - I will pre-order 100 tickets. (All for me to go again, and again, and again.)

This is probably TMI.

Steph, I still do not understand how they can make a movie out of 50Shades that is not NC-17, but I'm in, if it is NC17 and Alex is in it, I could watch..

Kristin Higgan's latest book - or any of her books. Cute, laugh-out-loud contemporaries! I was reading one on my kindle the other day and started laughing so much that people were staring at me!

I love movies where things blow up real good. They're the ones that are worth seeing on the big screen. So many of the movies that I want to watch and ponder and think about are great for the small screen. You know, the ones about relationships and dialogue. I almost prefer to watch those on DVD or download at home because then I can stop them and talk about them.

Oh yeah - Sinead you would LOVE Mayberry's Her Best Worst Mistake - I should have thought of that earlier - honestly, for the price point and the quality...awesome. Milan and Mayberry are doing it right, that's for sure.

There's so much stuff I want to see! Tonight I get to catch up on madmen!! Huzzah!
