So You Think You Can Dance -- best show on TV. Period.

There - I'm putting it out into the world. For my money - as much as I loved Dexter and the Sopranos and The Office and yes, even Friday Night Lights - nothing compares to the way I feel about So You Think You Can Dance. I obsess. I watch. Rewatch. Rewatch. Think about deleting it from my PVR and then don't. So I can rewatch yet again. I worry. I really worry about Hok. I worry about who will be given the gift of working with Wade Robson in the next week.

This show - as good as all those other shows are - at least once a week startles me with beauty and honesty and something so creative and different and moving that I thank God that I am a writer and I have PVR. I think this show offers us a glimpse into something very real about the dance community. American Idol has become it's own planet with nothing relating to the real world. But this show puts real dancers in the same room with real choreographers - and it's always exciting.

I saw part of the first season - watched the second season at least twice and now am glued to the TV for the first season and it's getting better all the time. They have six couples left and while I know that Hok isn't the best male dancer and could be the next to go - how is that possible in light of that Wade Robson ballet from two weeks ago? That was one of the most stunning things I have ever seen. I also thought the waltz last week was lovely -- the guy is short! What can he do?

Danny? Oh Danny so stunning. His hands - beautiful. His body. His dancing - stunning. But the judges are right. He's either not in touch with something very vulnerable in himself or he is arrogant -- I don't know which.

As for the girls - Sara, Sabra and I love Hok's partner Jamie? I can't remember her name because I am blinded by my love of Hok. But she is beautiful and elegant and giggly. She's fun.

The whole damn thing is fun. And beautiful. And artful - and that is almost non-exist ant on tv these days.

My wife and I have been watching Dominic and Sabra all night, and this morning:

Other than that, I don't think I can support your statement. There's a little show by the name of Entourage that sorta owns.

Oh yeah, and Lost. That season finale was amazing!

I haven't watched it so I can't comment, although I'm having trouble imagining how it can stack up to Friday Night Lights or Battlestar..
and I can't get addicted to another series right now..

As you know... I LOVE LOVE LOVE that show, too... But I'm a big fan of dance and it's the first time we've ever seen real dance on television so I think it's amazing.

I agree with lil lex in a way, though, too... But comparing SYTYCD to great dramas or comedies is hard. Apples and Oranges.... But among the reality TV shows? SYTYCD is the only one you can watch over and over again and still be thrilled and moved and totally entertained.

Entourage is good and man are they ever working the endings of those episodes -- and how fun was last night-- Eric is such a firecracker. It's good -- but it's no SYTYCD.

Dom and Sabra are easily favorites that was an amazing routine and incredibly passionate. lil lex - I like having you around!!!!

I keep hearing how awesome this show is, but I haven't seen it. I've been totally engrossed in the universe of Doctor Who/Torchwood this past week. And season three of House will be out on DVD soon so I can find out what happens!

But given enough alphas on a show, I can be talked into watching it. :)

I agree, I adore this show and I have since its first year. There's nothing like watching people do something at such a high level and to see someone's dream come true makes me cry everytime.

I feel like crying most weeks too. SO many of them are so vulnerable up there - I love it.

I also adore SYTYCD - this year has been excruciating because there are so many good couples. Last year I didn't get emotinally invested until halfway or so through, because there were a lot of relatively weak dancers.

But this year - what kind of travesty allows Hok, an utterly unique dancer, renaissance man (how about that violin and his impressive art?), and charming speaker - to be sent off when Kameron (a nice enough guy but not in the same league as the other men) remains?

How, how, how, do Neil and Danny keep having to dance for their lives???? They are both superb, and I am a loss to understand why the judges are so harsh on Danny - being told he's being critiqued at a higher level than the others because he's so good? What's up with that?!?!

OK I'll try and calm down now.
