And you're right, the kooky mother and more-grown-up-than-her-parent daughter have both been done before, too.

I might try to get the DVD's for Castle if I find them cheaply... Or rent them. I can tell on Twitter and FB that a lot of writers LOVE that show, which is always a ringing endorsement for me. (Not to mention you liking it.)

I think I saw the pilot and then two random episodes through the season. So, I really haven't seen enough to have an opinion. I mean, I miss Gilmore Girls desperately, but it didn't totally work for me. I kind of liked the cop and when the actual Rick Castle book came out . . . well, it was like meta-meta-fiction or something. Cracked me up.Eileenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09803986849921870941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29864506.post-40553429042666179062010-08-25T15:36:36.658-04:002010-08-25T15:36:36.658-04:00OH, Eileen... The things people do, thinking they're being helpful, when really they're stabbing you in the heart.

I can see how that won you over.

I remember liking the characters for Castle's mother and daughter... It was the cop who I didn't like. Or maybe I just didn't seen enough shows to get who she was. The pretty, rich girl turned cop thing seemed almost cliche to me. (But I'm basing this on 3 random episodes.)

I might try again this season.Maureen McGowanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00494408580378817045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29864506.post-72367551295304858842010-08-25T15:19:08.618-04:002010-08-25T15:19:08.618-04:00I'm way into mystery/cop/spy shows right now. ...I'm way into mystery/cop/spy shows right now. I think it's the romantic suspense thing. It's what I'm thinking about so it's what entertains me.

That said, there was this moment in the first season of Castle that won my loyalty for a long long time. His new book has just come out and his mother is calling him from the bookstores telling him how people aren't buying the book.

Having had my boyfriend's mother call me from every bookstore that wasn't stocking one of my books as I died a slow and painful internal death, I completely related to the situation, his pained reaction and just the whole megillah.Eileenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09803986849921870941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29864506.post-16490562201159526452010-08-25T14:44:43.137-04:002010-08-25T14:44:43.137-04:00Thanks for the recommendations, everyone!

The premise does sound interesting.

House lost me at least a season ago, I'm afraid. I've seen a few episodes, and while I heart Nathan Fillion, big time, I never got into the show. But it's one that I'm pretty sure I would've liked if I'd given it a chance. As is stands, I watched 2-3 random episodes, which wasn't enough to get interested in any multi-episode plot lines... and I'm just not very into murder-mystery type shows...

Good luck with the contest, Mad Men Girl.Maureen McGowanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00494408580378817045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29864506.post-65748156759030523992010-08-25T12:06:42.619-04:002010-08-25T12:06:42.619-04:00Ooh! I did feel like the plot line of the two episodes we caught were a little too similar, but I loved the characters and thought the acting was great. I love the main character.
