I want to be Norman Jewison, too!!! I...Yes yes yes. I want to be Norman Jewison, too!!! I'm so hoping that the book I'm finishing now is exactly those three things. Plus I had a Bobby Kennedy moment last week! I heard about this speech he made in South Africa that literally made me cry. It was all about how the actions of one person can impact many.Eileenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09803986849921870941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29864506.post-26855166780403630882011-08-31T13:45:51.189-04:002011-08-31T13:45:51.189-04:00Yes, these are all hard questions, Kathy... Making...Yes, these are all hard questions, Kathy... Making it big in publishing does have similar odds to winning at the slots... Odds are definitely against you. I think everyone has to face the big "is it worth it" questions.

Bachelor Pad craaacked me up this week. And I thought it would be boring with Jake gone. That sounds a bit odd to say it - not exactly a family movie.

And I know what you mean - if nobody reads your book, does it exist? Or if only a handful read it, does it exist? How many need to read it before it exists?

In today's publishing, do you keep writing if you have to publish it yourself? Is it all worth it if you have to build your audience slowly without any guarantees of the size you will ever build?

Been thinking about this - all the work of writing used to feel worth it, imagining hitting the jackpot. Now it feels like you do all the work of writing only to hit a few cherries on a quarter machine - lol!

That's why I don't think it will continue this way - something's gotta give eventually... people won't keep doing something when there's no payoff.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
